Kilcreggan Ferry Not Deemed a "Lifeline" Service

LOCAL MSP Jackie Baillie is calling on the local community served by the Kilcreggan-Gourock ferry to campaign for the service to be considered as a “lifeline” route.

Transport Scotland is currently undertaking a review as part of the Scottish Ferry Services, Ferries Plan (2013-2022) to look at services which should be managed by the Scottish Government.

The Scottish Government has said that they would be willing to take on responsibility for all “lifeline” ferry services in Scotland.

At present, the Kilcreggan to Gourock ferry service is run by Strathclyde Partnership for Transport and is subcontracted out to Clydelink.

In a letter to Jackie Baillie, SPT said that the Ferries Review Plan does not consider the Kilcreggan to Gourock ferry route to be a “lifeline” service and it would be for others such as the constituents of the area and Argyll and Bute Council to promote the service as a “lifeline” route.
